Future photographic practice?

Some people are thinking about how photographic practice needs to adapt and change for the future.

Jonathan Worth has posted this thought-provoking "proposal" on his blog:

Then today, @IHphoto asks of Matt: How wd this work for editorial photographers? As in most things internet related these new ideas are backhanded transactions. (Although I will concede that advertising pays for the other stuff on the pages of periodicals.)

Hi IHPhoto, first of all i would like to point out that these things are not solutions merely ideas. I was suggesting ideas primarily relating to print sales and raising funds for personal projects. How could this work for editorial photographers? Through the sale of prints/selections of prints at different price tiers after they have been published, or by allowing an audience to fund projects that can then be associated with them or their company.
